MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Alger County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal snowmobiling accident that occurred early this morning in Munising Township.
The accident happened on Trail #8 around 4 a.m. when a westbound machine, operated by a 46-year-old Illinois man was involved in a crash. He was riding with a group of other riders between Shingleton & Wetmore when the accident happened.
No names or further details are being released at this time. It is believed that poor visibility and excessive speed were factors in the accident.
