MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The National Weather Service in Negaunee Township has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow for Marquette County until midnight tonight and a Blizzard Warning for Alger County until 5 p.m. tomorrow.
Snowfall will continue through this evening into tomorrow and may be heavy at times. Total snow accumulations in Marquette County through this evening will reach 5 to 10 inches over the north half of the county, with the heaviest snow over the higher terrain north of M-28. Over the south half of Marquette County, plan on 3 to 5 inches of snow.
In Alger County, 12 to 18 inches of total accumulation is possible by tomorrow afternoon. Northwest winds gusting over 35-40 mph at times will also result in areas of blowing and drifting snow later through this evening and into tomorrow with whiteout conditions possible in open areas.
