Rosa Parks Being Honored on Her Birthday

    Food_Drive_Pics4MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)The U.S. Postal Service is honoring civil rights icon Rosa Parks today on what would have been her 100th birthday.

    The Postal Service is featuring a stamp with Parks’ likeness on it. Parks is credited as the catalyst in the civil rights movement in America for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a city bus in Alabama in 1955.

    Not long after that historic event, Rosa Parks and her husband moved to Detroit where she lived until her death in 2005.
