MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in a fatal snowmobile accident yesterday in Iron County.
Authorities say the accident occurred at approximately 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon off of trail 18 on the DNR Road in Amasa.
Few details have been released, but the victim has been identified as a 54-year-old man from Mokena, Illinois. Iron County Sheriff’s Deputies says the man died as a result of injuries he received after his snowmobile left the road and he struck a tree.
