Wind Chill, Lake Effect Snow Advisories for U.P.

    Weather pattern over U.P. causes advisoriesMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)A bitterly cold weather pattern has settled in over the U.P. with temperatures remaining below zero through tomorrow morning.

    The National Weqther Service Office in Negaunee says subzero temperatures combined with wind will drive wind chills down to as low as 25 to 30 below zero through Tuesday morning.

    Expect the lowest wind chills well inland from Lake Superior. A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. EST tomorrow for the central U.P.

    A lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. tomorrow for Alger, Luce and northern Schoolcraft counties. Expect snow showers to spread steadily inland east of Munising through the day as the wind turns toward the northwest. Moderate to heavy lake effect snow showers will then occur through tonight…mainly east of Munising.

    Expect additional lake effect snow accumulations of 4 to 12 inches through tonight in areas east of Munising with only 1 to 4 inches of snow to the west.
