MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – U.S. Congressman Dan Benishek called in today to the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to discuss the latest from Capitol Hill on the wranglings over the so-called Fiscal Cliff.
Congressman Benishek, calling in from Washington, D.C., explained that while the deal reached was not a perfect one, he voted for it because it prevented a tax increase for the majority of residents in his district.
The Iron River Republican voiced his displeasure for the agreement as to it having no spending cuts. He predicted that the new congress, which takes over tomorrow, will have a big fight coming with President Barack Obama over those spending cuts.
Congressman Benishek also mentioned that he is disappointed in the House Republican leadership of Reps. John Boehner and Eric Cantor having a split in their votes over this deal. He said there may be problems created by this division in the future, but only time will tell.
