    LSSU 38th annual list of words to be banished from English languageMARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)Wordsmiths at Lake Superior State University have released their 38th annual list of words and phrases that should be banned from the English language in 2013.
    Topping the list of nominations of words banished from the queen’s English for misuse, overuse and general uselessness is “Fiscal Cliff,” which LSSU’s Tom Pink says was by far the most nominated phrase this year.
    He says another phrase politicians continue to use made the list… “Kick the can down the road” which is meant to describe someone or some group neglecting its responsibilities.
    Other words and phrases which made the list were “Double Down,” “Job Creators/Creation,”Spoiler Alert,” and “Bucket List.”
    The LSSU list has been a new year’s day tradition since it’s creation in 1976.  The full 2013 and previous lists can be found at www.lssu.edu/banished.
