Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Representative Scott Dianda says he voted against the road plan because it favors the wealthy and leaves working U.P. families having to pay more than their fair share.

The Calumet Democrat says the plan to increase fuel taxes and registration fees is going to hit his constituents the hardest.

Dianda says U.P. residents drive farther to work and school, so the gas tax increase is going to hit them harder, and seniors living on fixed incomes will struggle to have to pay more to keep their vehicles on the road.

He says the plan blows huge holes into public safety, education and health care funding and is simply not a good roads plan.
