Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – 109th District State Representative John Kivela is criticizing a road funding plan approved by the State House this week.
The Marquette Democrat says the $1.2 billion plan is not a good one and is not a sustainable solution to the road problems in the state.
The plan includes a 7.3 cent increase in the diesel tax, a 3.3 cent increase in the gas tax, raising vehicle registration fees about $40 per car and taking $600 million from the General Fund.
Kivela says the plan is not fiscally responsible.
It is now under consideration in the Michigan Senate.
