MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Ishpeming High School Varsity Football Team is continuing the quest for a state championship this weekend with a highly anticipated game Saturday morning at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
Great Lakes Radio Sports Director Mike Plourde sat down with Ishpeming Head Football Coach Jeff Olson this morning to talk about tomorrow’s matchup with the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates.
Coach Olson talked about the team and their chances against this opponent as the Hematites look to advance to Ford Field in Detroit next weekend for the finals. The coach says the team is taking it one game at a time and they are treating the Pirates with respect, taking nothing for granted.
He also talked about the advantage the Hematites have this weekend with the game close to home and there being no heavy travel schedule to throw the team’s rhythm off.
