MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Michigan Appeals Court ruling is sending an attempted kidnapping case back to Alger County Circuit Court.
40-year-old Mohamed El Fechtali of Quebec, Canada allegedly tried to kidnap a 12-year old Munising girl last year. A confession he made during the trial was suppressed and the Court of Appeals recently overturned that ruling, sending the case back to Alger County.
According to reports, El Factali would have to return to Alger County from Canada or he may have to be extradited back to the country, which may incur a substantial expense.
The date for the hearing has not been set.
