Marquette, MI – July 29, 2024 – 109th District State Representative Jenn Hill is highlighting local projects receiving funding in the recently-signed budget for the state.
Hill outlined two recipients of funding, the Marquette Regional History Center with $1 million to help pay off facility’s mortgage.
The other is a $2 million allocation to Munising Memorial Hospital to refurbish the emergency department and support upgrades to the hospital’s medical equipment.
She also discussed Marquette County being one one of eight U.P counties receiving over $5 million for disaster relief. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has allocated the funds from the Michigan Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund.
Hill touched on the so-called “dark stores” tax loophole and a new bipartisan effort launched in the legislature by her and fellow U.P. lawmaker, Republican Greg Markkanen of Hancock to address the ongoing issue.
