MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Department of Transportation says the removal of detours reopening M-94 to traffic in Manistique this week wrapped up the project about a week ahead of schedule.
M-DOT reconstructed M-94 through the city from Fifth Street to Chippewa Avenue. Total cost for the project was about $4.2 million, of which $1.2 million was M-DOT’s portion.
Some minor work and clean-up will finish up in the next few weeks. As part of the project, the city also upgraded portions of its water main and sanitary sewer system in the construction area.
The project required multiple detours on city streets during construction, beginning in May. M-DOT and the contractor maintained access to downtown businesses throughout construction.
