MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Wisconsin woman has been sentenced for embezzling money from a labor union representing U.P. workers.
37 year old Renita Dompier of Greenville, Wisconsin was sentenced to one year of probation with six months of home detention for embezzlement from a labor organization by an employee. Dompier was also ordered to pay just under $11,800 in restitution and fines.
Dompier plead guilty in May to one count of a federal indictment charging her with embezzlement.
Dompier served as the Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Woodworkers Local Lodge W-283, representing employees of CertainTeed Ceilings in L’Anse.
Between December 2004 through October 2009, Dompier embezzled over $10,000 from the union for her own personal use.
