Lansing, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Michigan Senate has passed resolutions sponsored by Senators Tom Casperson and Phil Pavlov to oppose an EPA-backed study that could lead to regulations on personal grills and barbecues.

The EPA funded the study to develop preventive technology to reduce emissions from residential barbecues.

Casperson, who chairs the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, calls the study ridiculous and for the EPA to spend time on such issues is a gross waste of taxpayer money.

The resolutions state that cooking outdoors on a grill during the summer saves electricity and EPA funding of the study is a poor use of taxpayer dollars.
