Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University has released it’s 10th day enrollment figures.
The numbers exceed projections of a decrease in total numbers based on declining high school student numbers and recent larger graduating classes.
University officials say the total headcount of undergraduate and graduate students is 8,169, which reflects a decrease of 423 students from last year.
The numbers are lower than projected and will negatively affect the university’s budget.
Administrators say, as a result, additional cost-saving measures will have to be implemented across campus.
They add that there will be some slight gains as the semester progresses, as some programs have later start dates.
