U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow Visiting The U.P. Today

    MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Michigan’s Junior U.S. Senator, Debbie Stabenow, is touring the Upper Peninsula today and tomorrow and called in to the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to preview her trip.

    Senator Stabenow started the day in Escanaba at the U.P. State Fair at Veteran’s Day activities and then was off to Marquette for a special meeting at Northern Michigan University.

    The Senator held a roundtable discussion in Marquette with community leaders to discuss the impact of Farm Bill reforms on the region.  Stabenow, Chair of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, hosted the session to urge passage of the bill in the U.S. House of Representatives. The current Farm Bill expires on September 30th.

    Stabenow authored the five-year Farm Bill, which passed the Senate with a strong bipartisan vote, but has not yet been taken up by the House.
