MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – John Kivela, running for the Michigan House of Representatives as a Democrat, joined Great Lakes Radio News Director Walt Lindala today to discuss his candidacy for the 109th District.
Kivela talked about his history and background as a life-long resident of the Marquette area and as a City Commissioner and Mayor of Marquette as a good foundation for serving the district in Lansing.
He also chatted about the key issues he sees as the major items he will address when he is elected. These include antiquated funding formulas for K-12 and higher education in Michigan, building a smart and appropriately educated work force and improving the infrastructure of the U. P. to upgrade air service and roadways for shipping of goods and items.
