Korean War Vets Recognized At Special Ceremony In Marquette

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A ceremony honoring Korean War veterans living at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans was held today in Marquette.

    Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency Director Jeff Barnes joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about the ceremony thanking the vets for their role in defending democracy and freedom in South Korea.

    Joining Barnes at the event to honor 43 residents of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans who served during the Korean War was the Deputy Consul General of the Korean Consulate General in Chicago, Jae-Woong Lee.

    Barnes explained that the Korean War was often called the “Forgotten War” and at the Korean War Commemorative Ceremony, each resident received a certificate of appreciation for his or her war-time service.

    Nineteen of the home’s veterans were also awarded the Korean Ambassador for Peace medal for their service in the country of Korea.
