Marquette, MIJuly 20,2020 – State Senator Ed McBroom checked in today with Mark & Walt in the Morning for a legislative update.  The Dickinson County Republican shared his reactions to the latest COVID-19 related Executive Orders from Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

McBroom said he is continuing to be frustrated with the Whitmer administration’s lack of willingness to work with the legislature in forming the policies, but he does believe that Governor Whitmer’s intentions are to save lives.  He added that it’s difficult for him and his staff to answer questions about the EOs from his constituents when he isn’t privy to all of the details involved.

McBroom also talked briefly about what is being worked on in the State Senate and House pertaining to students getting back to school this fall in Michigan.  He said the primary item that is under consideration is a tentative agreement between the Governor and the Legislature on the budget for funding the school year, adding that the budget agreement will be addressed this week in session at the Capitol.
