NMU Wildcat Wednesday: The 2020 Hope Starts Here Challenge Goes Virtual

Marquette, MI – (07/01/20) – The Incredible Bank Hope Starts Here Challenge raises funds and awareness for the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center at Northern Michigan University. Dr. Rob Winn, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at NMU and Executive Director of the UMBTC, joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today for Wildcat Wednesday to talk about the event and the center.

He explained the the Hope Starts Here Challenge is the primary fundraiser for the UMBTC and this year, there will be some changes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Winn said this year’s event will take place virtually, and anyone can take part between August 22th and August 30th.

Winn also shared some of the history of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center and explained that it is a collaborative effort between UP Health System, Northern Michigan University and the Superior Health Foundation.  It’s mission is to empower patients and families dealing with brain tumor through advocacy, research, education, and treatment.
