Marquette, MI – (04/23/20) – The Home Builders Association of the UP is surveying area builders and contractors about their COVID-19 safety plans for being ready to get back to work when current coronavirus executive orders are lifted in Michigan.

Sarah Schultz, Executive Officer of the HBA of the UP, joined Mark &Walt in the Morning this week to talk about this statewide effort launched by the Home Builders Association of Michigan.  She explained that it was part of an effort to show Governor Gretchen Whitmer and other state legislators that the residential building industry is prepared to return to work in a safe manner.

Schultz says that with nearly 600 respondents, HBAM reports that 94% have updated their worksite safety plans for Covid-19 and roughly 92% have the necessary PPE to work when given the green light to return to work.

She said the group is still looking to hear from more builders and contractors about their plans, and that more information is available at the Home Builders Association of the UP and the Home Builders Association of Michigan websites.
