Marquette, MI – (04/21/20) – Marquette native and former City Manager Bill Vajda joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about his recent bout with COVID-19. Vajda, who now lives and works in Washington, D.C. as the Chief Information Officer with the U.S. Department of the Interior, shared his story of contracting the virus and his subsequent recovery.
Vajda said the virus moved extremely fast upon it’s onset, and within a matter of a day or two, he was near death in an Intensive Care Unit in a D.C. hospital. After being told there was nothing more the doctors at that facility could do for him, Vajda was transferred to Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore for continued treatment.
Vajda says while at Johns Hopkins, he began to respond to the specialized treatment he received, and turned the corner in his fight against the virus. He is now back at home and is recovering. Vajda recently wrote an article about the ordeal for the site, Rural Insights, and you can read it HERE.
