Marquette School Board Considering Changing “Redmen” Nickname

Marquette, MI – (12/10/19) – The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education will be hearing the results next week of research done by a citizen committee looking into the issue of cultural insensitivity in the continued use of the school’s Redmen nickname.

The committee will present their findings at the MAPS Board meeting this Monday, and district Superintendent Bill Saunders joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about what the committee was researching and some of the history of the Redmen nickname.

Saunders says the committee presents it’s findings on Monday, Dec. 16th at 5:30pm at the Little Theater at Marquette Senior High School.
