Marquette, MI – (mediaBrew Communications) – On our latest Active Physical Therapy Update, we took a look at a special partnership that supports athletic trainers on the sidelines of high school sports games in Western Marquette County.

Dave Aro, General Manager of Active Physical Therapy, outlined the history of the program and how it came to be as an effort to maintain and increase the overall health and safety of the student athletes.

Aro explained that the program became increasingly expensive to operate as matters such as training for concussion protocols and other required knowledge grew over the years, so they reached out to the West End Health Foundation for some help.

Pam Christensen, Foundation Manager with WEHF, shared some of the history of the group and how financially assisting the program with Active Physical Therapy fit their overall mission of serving people in the West End of Marquette County.

Christensen said in the first year of working with Active, the funds from the Foundation were able to be used to serve about 1300 student athletes from Ishpeming, Negaunee and NICE Community Schools as well as the Republic-Michigamme district.
