Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A great opportunity for kids to get involved with roller derby is happening tomorrow in Marquette.

The Jr. Derby Dance Party for kids aged 7 to 17 is happening at the Baraga Gym from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is set up for those who come out to meet the North Country Bruisers team and coaches.

Coach Glory Sparks, with the Dead River Derby, and North Country Bruisers Ferawrri and Sassy Sam joined Kelsey Reyes on the Sunny Morning Show today to talk about the event and the team.

They explained that the North Country Bruisers are a co-ed youth program and there’s no skating experience necessary.

Interested kids can try on some skates and take some laps around the gym, and there will be music, games, skating, dancing and lots of fun all evening.

If you have a helmet, please bring it along, organizers will provide the mouthguards.
