Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Veterans in two U.P. counties will soon find it easier to file a federal benefits claim with an accredited county veterans service officer through grants awarded by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

The Dickinson County Office of Veterans’ Affairs will receive $10,000 to hire an additional part-time accredited county veterans counselor.

The Veterans Administration of Schoolcraft County will receive $15,000 to increase the accredited county veterans counselor to full-time and purchase office technology.

The grant funding allows Michigan counties looking to fund new county departments of veterans affairs, hire additional accredited counselors or upgrade technology.
