Driver Arrested After Weekend Rollover Accident

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies and Ishpeming Police responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident this weekend in Ely Township.

The accident happened just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday on County Road 581 near County Road CD.

Deputies say a northbound 2003 Chevy Tahoe, driven by a 42-year-old Negaunee man, went out of control, left the roadway, struck a snowbank and rolled over.

The driver sustained some minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

A passenger, a 43-year-old Marquette man, was not injured.

The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired and was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the accident and the name of the driver is being withheld pending arraignment.
