Rural development grant given to Munising Memorial Hospital

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Rural Development grant has been awarded to an Alger County health care facility.

Munising Memorial Hospital is receiving a $50,000 grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development initiative.  Hospital officials say the funds will be used to purchase and install Digital Mammography equipment at Munising Memorial to increase its capacity to serve the local community.

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow worked directly with community leaders and the Department of Agriculture to help secure the grant for Munising Memorial Hospital.

Stabenow says the upgrades will help Munising Memorial Hospital better serve the community and ensure women in the central U.P. have access to the health care services they need.
