MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the people involved in a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in Ishpeming Township. The accident was reported around 4:45 p.m. on Deer Lake Road about 3-and-a-half miles north of county road G.M.
Deputies say a southbound Jeep Cherokee, driven by 39-year-old Christopher Magnuson of Marquette, came around a curve and found an oncoming northbound ORV in his lane. The operator of the ORV, 17-year-old Carl Anderson of Ishpeming, attempted to avoid the Jeep, but was unable to and collided head on with it. Deputies say Anderson was attempting to pass another northbound ORV on the curve when the accident happened.
Anderson was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment and was last listed in serious condition. Authorities say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
