MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Preliminary reports indicate six people lost their lives in Michigan in six separate traffic crashes during the long Labor Day holiday weekend.
Michigan State Police say final numbers are not yet known, but one of the six victims was known to have used restraints, and alcohol was a known factor in one of the six fatal crashes.
By comparison, 12 people died in traffic crashes on Labor Day weekend last year.
The State Police considers Labor Day weekend to run from 6 p.m. last Friday through midnight Monday night.
