Police need public's help to find suspects in houghton

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Houghton Police are looking for the public’s help in an attempted assault case.

Officers say a woman was crossing Montezuma Avenue in downtown Houghton on foot around 1 o’clock in the morning Monday when a car with two men inside it stopped next to her.  She told police that the driver got out of the car a and asked her if she wanted a ride. The woman says she refused and the man tried to force her into the car.

The passenger then said to the driver that they should leave. The driver got back into the car and drove away eastbound on College Avenue.

The driver is described as a white male in his thirties with light facial hair, a Detroit Tigers baseball cap, shorts and sandals. The passenger in the car was wearing a Detroit Tigers cap backwards.

The car is said to be a very rusty light blue four-door sedan, similar to a 1990’s Buick. The Houghton Police Department is asking anyone with any further information to call them at 482-2121.
