MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Organizers are calling this year’s Upper Peninsula State Fair another success.
Preliminary figures show an estimated 61,500 people showed up for this year’s 85th anniversary of the fair in Escanaba, but organizers expect 2012 will surpass last year’s record-setting numbers by about one percent in attendance and carnival activity.
Vickie Micheau, executive director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce and member of the U.P. State Fair Management Team, says the numbers are still being tabulated for advanced weekly and daily ticket sales.
The week long fair ended last Sunday.
