MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – State Police at the St.Ignace Post are searching for a suspect in the sexual assault of a Chicago woman reported on Sunday morning south of Gulliver along Lake Michigan in Schoolcraft County.
Police believe the suspect traveled a significant distance to carry out the assault and are searching in Illinois and Wisconsin as well as Michigan. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s, and about 5′ 8″ to six feet tall. He has light eyes, short hair and an athletic build and was reported to be wearing a grayish green t-shirt, jean shorts and tennis shoes.
Police are also looking for information about a yellow Jeep Wrangler that was seen in the area. The Jeep reportedly had a spare tire with a smiley face cover on the back.
Anyone with any information related to the case is asked to call their nearest Michigan State Police post.
