MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Marquette County man has been sentenced to prison time on assault charges.
36-year-old Ralph Emanuelson of Ishpeming was sentenced this morning in Marquette County Circuit Court for a domestic violence incident that happened last May where he held a knife to the throat of his wife. Following a plea agreement to plead no contest to one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, other charges related to the incident were dropped.
Reports say Emanuelson also shot himself during the incident as police approached the scene. He was sentenced to a total of 20 months behind bars. The assault charge carried a maximum sentence of four years in prison.
