Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an SUV-logging truck accident yesterday around 3:30 p.m. on Wright Street, just north of Forestville Road in Marquette Township. A northbound KIA Sorrento, operated by 18-year-old Kendra Kemp of Williamston, MI went out of control and crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming Holli Logging truck. The driver of the logging truck, 67-year-old David Kari of Ishpeming man, turned the truck to the right to avoid a head-on crash and jackknifed it. The driver’s side of the KIA struck the driver’s side of the semi, and Kemp had to be extricated from the vehicle. A passenger in the KIA, 19-year-old Linnea Frankie from Marquette and Kemp were taken to MGH for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Kari was not injured and the crash remains under investigation.
