(Marquette, Michigan) – Great Lakes Radio & Sunny.FM (WKQS – 101.9 FM) 1st Texaco Country Showdown of 2013 had 6 acts, all playing their own instruments, most playing original songs. The Exchange Club’s Friday Music started with the Showdown and great talent.
Contestants do not have to play their own instruments (a CD without lyrics is fine). Contestants do not have to play original music. Many have one just singing along to a cut on a CD. However, it is very nice when every act is a shooting for the best. And this year’s first showdown set a high bar, with every act very good.
The Prusi Brothers won, with The Frank Jeffries Medicine Show coming in a close, close second. But it was tight race for all six talented acts.
The next two showdowns will be at Saturday August 17, at Lions Field for Marquette Township Community Day 1:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m., with the following two Saturday August 17, at Country Lanes Entertainment Center in Ishpeming 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m.
