Negaunee, Michigan – May 28, 2019 – What a whirlwind of days I have ahead of me! Unfortunately, I will not be on the morning show with Walt this Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I’ll be in Chicago having oral surgery, instead. UGH!
I have to have gum graft surgery on my mouth. I’m not excited. Basically what is wrong is this: the piece that connects the lower lip to the lower gum line inside of my mouth is too short. So, over my lifetime, due to talking/eating/etc., it has pulled away from my gum line, leaving the roots of my two bottom front teeth exposed. It’s quite painful.
The dentist had to put a varnish to desensitize the exposed roots, which is helping keep the pain at bay for now. The surgery I have to get done goes like this: The oral surgeon will cut open the roof of my mouth, take some tissue out, stitch the roof of my mouth back up, graft the tissue to the gum line on the exposed roots, stitch that all in place, then we’re good to go!
But, I can only have nutritional shakes, like Ensure or Slimfast, and very soft foods to eat afterwards for a few days, and I CANNOT TALK right away. Do you have any idea how HARD that is going to be for me?! I love food, and I love to talk, so I have no idea how I’ll handle this. Oh boy.
Well, wish me luck! I’m hoping to be back to work on Monday, June 3rd. See you then!
Keep up with me on The Sunny Morning Show weekdays 6-10AM on 101.9 Sunny.FM.
