Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Choral Society is holding a special evening this weekend to premiere a new piece of music and to say farewell to it’s long-time musical director, Floyd Slotterback.
Slotterback joined the SUNNY Morning Show to invite listeners to come to the show on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Vandament Arena on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Slotterback said the evening will feature the world premiere of “The Harmony of Heaven and Earth”, a three-movement work for SATB choir, piano and handbells by Paul Ayres.
The work was commissioned by Marquette Choral Society to honor Slotterback, conductor, in honor of his 40 years of teaching.
The evening will also feature a farewell to Slotterback, who is officially retiring from the group.
