Marquette City Commission Meets Tonight And More!

Marquette, MI – September 14, 2026 – The Marquette City Commission has a regular meeting this evening.

In a primarily administrative session, the Commission will be hearing an update on Senior Services in the city and will also be hearing an annual update from the City’s Planning Commission.

The Commission will also be acting on a grant supporting City Senior Arts programming from the Ray and Peg Hirvonen Foundation. Tonight’s meeting is at 6:00 o’clock at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall.

The City of Marquette is also holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony later today to mark the completion of the Lakeshore Boulevard Shoreline Restoration Project.  The $12 million project included the relocation of a section of Lakeshore Boulevard between Hawley and Pine Streets and several coastal restoration phases.

The ceremony is open to the public will be held today at 4:00pm near the newly constructed boardwalk and overlook pier, located north of the parking lots along Lakeshore Boulevard.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs spoke about both events today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
