
Marquette, MI – May 6, 2026 – Voters in several U.P. communities to decided the fates of various bond and millage proposals yesterday.
In Marquette County, residents in the Marquette Area Public School district passed a bond proposal to generate just under $60 million for the district to make facility infrastructure updates. The vote was 3,628 YES to 3,116 NO.
Voters in Negaunee will also approved $1.25 million bond proposal to cover needed repairs and upgrades to the Negaunee Ice Arena. The vote there was 747 YES to 309 NO.
Voters in Munising passed a sinking fund millage request of 1.5 mills over 5 years by the Munising Public Schools to create a fund for construction. The final vote was 791 YES to 680 NO.
Elsewhere, voters in Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw Counties passed a .97 mil renewal request by the Copper Country Intermediate School District for Clerical and Technical Education programs. That final tally was 5,372 YES to 1,406 NO.
And a 3 mil request by the Baraga Schools to fund construction and school security efforts was approved by a vote of 240 YES to 206 NO.
