Marquette, MI – April 22, 2026 – On our latest Wildcat Wednesday, Northern Michigan University President Dr. Chris Olsen is looking back on his first semester on the job at NMU as it draws to a close with graduation next weekend.
Olsen shared his thoughts about the last few months with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Olsen talked about some of the highlights of the semester, including a record-setting winter for weather-related campus closings and also outlined some information about the Commencement exercises set for 10:30am on Saturday, May 2 at the Superior Dome.
He also outlined some of the significant challenges the university is facing in terms of student enrollment trends and state funding belt-tightening.
Olsen also gave some insights into an upcoming public fundraising campaign for the university set to launch this coming fall.
