Marquette, MI – February 26, 2026 – State Senator Ed McBroom says Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s eighth, and final, State of the State address was, overall, a good speech showcasing a need for legislators to work together get things done.
McBroom shared his reactions to the address with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
The Dickinson County Republican said the speech by Whitmer, a Democrat, acknowledged the split power between Republicans who control the State House and Democrats who run the State Senate.
McBroom, who is currently in his last term in the Senate due to term limits, said he thought the speech avoided controversy and called for lawmakers to work together this year instead partisan fighting that derails many initiatives.
He did say, however, that he wished the speech would have had some more bigger and bolder proposals from the Governor.
