Marquette, MIJanuary 10, 2026 – The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education is putting a bond proposal on the ballot in May. It is a 1.55 mill plan to raise $59.9 million for facilities updates and improvements across the district.

Marquette Area Public Schools Superintendent Zack Sedgwick discussed the proposal with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Sedgwick explained that the move comes after two major facilities studies identified over $100 million in infrastructure needs across the district.  He added that the bond will address the highest-priority needs identified in the district’s Facilities Master Plan.

The election will be on Tuesday, May 5th, and more information about the proposal can be found at the district website at mapsnet.org.
