Marquette, MI – January 29, 2026 – The City of Negaunee is putting a bond proposal before voters in May to pay for repairs and updates to the Negaunee Ice Arena.
The City Council unanimously approved a plan earlier this month to put a .49-mill request on the May 5th ballot.
Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron spoke about the proposal with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Heffron said that if it is approved, the annual millage would allow the the City to generate up to $1.25 million for a series of needed repairs.
He explained that the work includes updates to the chiller and dehumidifier systems along with upgrades to the building’s locker rooms, kitchen and bathrooms seating and parking.
