Marquette, MI – December 1, 2025 – The Michigan Department of Transportation is reminding motorists of some good rules for safe winter driving.
Weingarten said that some of the basic tips are to drive slower, increase following distance, and check road conditions. He added that Michigan law requires a “careful and prudent” speed and staying 200 feet behind snowplows.
Weingarten also explained that it’s also important to prepare your vehicle by checking tires, brakes, and defrosters, and, if possible, avoid driving during severe storms and be patient when driving around snowplows.
