Marquette, MI – November 20, 2025 – A coalition of U.P. lawmakers is speaking out against a recent judge’s ruling they say will increase energy costs in the region.
Senator Ed McBroom is leading the criticism of an administrative law judge’s ruling in a decision before the Michigan Public Service Commission related to the state’s recently-enacted clean energy laws.
McBroom spoke about the issues with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
McBroom says if the judge’s ruling is enacted, U.P. residents and businesses will see large rate increases starting in January that will have serious consequences.
He added that the lawmakers are calling on the State Senate to pass a package of bills that has passed the State House with bipartisan support that would stop the increases.
McBroom says they are hoping for the bills to be signed by Governor Whitmer before the end of the year.
