
Marquette, MI – November 20, 2025 – A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING.
The National Weather Service has posted the warning for Marquette and Alger Counties for heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches are expected. The heaviest snows will be to the west of Marquette along the Lake superior shoreline at the Marquette and Alger County line.
Travel could be very difficult at times with heavy snow affecting visibility. The hazardous conditions will also impact the Monday morning commute for drivers.
As a result of the poor weather conditions this morning, the following schools are closed today:
Ishpeming and Ishpeming Head Start
Marquette and Marquette Head Start
Marquette-Alger RESA
Negaunee Public Schools
NICE Community Schools
North Star Montessori Academy in Marquette
Powell Township School District in Big Bay
Christ the King Pre-School in Ishpeming
Father Marquette Catholic Academy in Marquette
Redeemer Lutheran Early Childhood Center in Marquette
