Marquette, MI – October 9, 2025 – Northern Michigan University is hosting a celebration of the 50th anniversary of its 1975 NCAA Division II champion football team this weekend.
Events for alumni and campus and community members run through Saturday night, including a game between NMU and Grand Valley State University at the Superior Dome at 7:00pm on Saturday.
Albrecht shared his memories of what is considered by many to be the most remarkable turnaround in the history of NCAA or professional sports by the Wildcats following a winless season with a national championship.
He also talked about what it’s like to be back with many of his old teammates for the weekend in Marquette.
Richardson talked about the current team, their season so far, and impact having the alumni members around for the game on Saturday night.
