Marquette, MI – July 1, 2025 – Marquette City Police are getting the word out about staying safe and following the city’s various ordinances over the 4th of July holiday.
MPD Captain Jim Finkbeiner spoke about the long holiday weekend with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Finkbeiner said extra patrol officers are working this weekend specifically to enforce the City’s rules for fireworks, the public beaches and more.
He said in terms of the beaches, the main points are: consumption of alcohol and smoking of any kind on beaches is prohibited, animals are prohibited on all public bathing beaches, and people littering on beaches will be cited.
Finkbeiner added that people going out and enjoying the weekend should remember to use common courtesy when it comes to using fireworks and be sure to only park in designated, signed parking areas when going to the beach, Presque Isle Park and other gatherings around the city.
